The basis of layering

The secret to feeling good in the mountains is to stay as dry as possible regardless of variations in weather and effort.

You think you'll have peace of mind with your ultra-waterproof Gore-Tex jacket, designed to face the worst snowstorms. Mistake: The main source of humidity is you. Inevitably you will sweat and therefore wet your t-shirt which will then let in the cold.

To limit damage, wearing a t-shirt made from a technical material is key. Above all, don't wear cotton! For what? Because cotton does not allow water vapor to pass through well, it will make you sweat and then takes a long time to dry. It is already better to wear a synthetic first layer because it is a more breathable material and dries quickly.

But for several years, if you go to a good ski store, we will strongly advise you to opt for a merino wool t-shirt. Several reasons for this:

1. Merino wool T-shirt fabrics have the same advantages as synthetic in terms of breathability, quick drying, strength, elasticity and ease of maintenance

2. In addition to this, merino wool is thermoregulating and therefore adapts well to variations

3. Like a sponge, merino wool can absorb a lot of moisture before getting wet (35% of its weight vs. 10% for cotton)

4. Wool also continues to keep you warm even when it is wet

5. Unlike synthetic, it does not absorb odors because it is anti-bacterial. This will be appreciated at the end of the day and will also allow you to put your t-shirt back on the next day without any problem.

6. Finally, wool is much more ecological than synthetic, in its manufacture and its life cycle (washing, end of life)

The Fairly polo shirt was truly popular. This made us happy because we had put a lot of heart into developing this piece that we wanted to be easy to wear, comfortable and elegant.

Objectives achieved, in particular thanks to details which give it character: deep 5-button buttoning, rounded shirt cuffs, natural horn buttons.

It is also a model that is appreciated for its versatility. At the office, on weekends, in the evening, for sports (skiing, golf or hiking for example), when traveling,... it can be worn (almost) in all circumstances and all year round.

So I really wanted to expand its range of colors. This is done with a special navy blue edition, which I am happy to present to you in preview.

I have the great pleasure of sharing with you an article on Béni which has just appeared in the July edition of Air France Magazine. If you're flying with this airline this month, take a look at p30!

It's no coincidence that our Hopkins shirt caught the attention of the editorial staff. A 100% superfine merino shirt is already a first that Béni offers you. It is then soft and elegant of course, but also undoubtedly one of the best clothes for traveling.

Why isn't it worth waiting for the sales to order your Béni?

First of all because it is perhaps one of the only garments that will make the heatwave bearable for you thanks to the thermoregulation and anti-perspiration properties of our Absolute Merino wool.

Then because Béni will not have a sale... These have in fact become the keystone of a system that has become a little crazy in my eyes, with repeated promotions and prices that are far too high the rest of the time, labels sometimes manipulated or lower quality collections specially produced for sales. I won't say more about the abuses of the ready-to-wear system because it could take a very long time. If the subject interests you, I recommend reading the excellent article by Geoffrey de Bonne Gueule ; written a few years ago, it is still as relevant as ever.

If we do not sell it is because the Béni model is fundamentally different from that of traditional brands:

Our collection is in fact permanent and not seasonal: Absolute Merino is fantastic to wear in winter and summer, and we try to offer you neat and timeless cuts that will ensure your Béni a long career in your wardrobe. Our range is therefore stable and we therefore do not have to sell off our unsold items twice a year to make room for the new collection.

Moreover, if you consider like me that today's sale = fair price, Béni is in fact on sale all year round. Indeed we can offer you rare and high quality clothing, very expensive to produce, at the fairest possible price because Béni's economic model frees itself from all expenses that are of little use to you: creation of hundreds of models per year , network of stores in the city center, expensive advertising campaign, distribution intermediaries (who often take more than 50% of the sale price)...

In the price of a Béni there is a very high production cost linked to Absolute Merino (which costs around 10 times the price of fine cotton) and to manufacturing in quality factories, transport and shipping costs. logistics included, a little marketing and a decent margin which pays our operating costs and above all allows us to invest in our stock and the creation of new Béni.

I strongly believe in this model, made possible by e-commerce, which allows us to offer you products that combine quality and responsibility, at a price 2 or 3 times lower than what a traditional brand could offer you.
